The Opportunity
A fast-growing energy management company operating in the smart buildings and environmental monitoring space is looking to hire a Product Manager to lead the development of its market leading Indoor Air Quality (IAQ) sensor products.
The business develops intelligent monitoring technology used by organisations to better understand building performance, environmental conditions and operational efficiency.
This role will take full ownership of the Indoor Air Quality sensor product line, working at the intersection of customers, market insights and engineering teams to shape product development and delivery. The role does not need hands-on engineering experience.
The Role
The Product Manager will be responsible for ensuring the Indoor Air Quality sensor portfolio evolves in line with customer needs, market trends and technological advancements.
You will act as the bridge between customers, product development and internal operational teams, translating requirements into clear roadmaps, product specifications and development priorities.
This is a highly collaborative role requiring strong organisational skills and the ability to manage cross-functional product development.
Key Responsibilities
Product Ownership
- Take full ownership of the Indoor Air Quality sensor product line
- Develop and maintain the product roadmap
- Translate market insights and customer requirements into product development priorities
- Ensure products evolve in line with industry standards and customer needs
Customer & Market Engagement
- Engage with customers to understand how sensors are deployed and used
- Gather feedback to drive product improvements and new features
- Configure sensor solutions to meet specific client requirements
- Monitor developments within the Indoor Air Quality and smart building technology market
Product Development
Work closely with engineering teams to define product specifications and feature requirements Build structured product workflows including:
- User journeys.
- UX/UI considerations
- Feature specifications
- Development timelines
- Sprint prioritisation
- Ensure product development follows a clear and organised delivery process
Cross-Functional Collaboration
Act as the bridge between:
- Customers
- Engineering teams
- Operations
- Product and project leadership
- Communicate product priorities and timelines across the organisation
- Support successful delivery of new features and product improvements
Reporting
- Track product development progress and feature delivery
- Provide internal updates on product status, client requirements and roadmap progress
Skills & Experience
We are particularly interested in candidates with experience in IoT, sensors or smart building technology, particularly within environmental monitoring.
Ideal experience includes:
- Experience as a Product Manager or Product Owner
- Background working with hardware products, IoT devices or sensor technology
- Exposure to Indoor Air Quality monitoring, environmental sensing or building technology
- Experience working with engineering and development teams
- Ability to translate customer needs into clear product requirementsTechnical Knowledge
- Candidates should ideally have some understanding of:
Environmental monitoring technologies
- Sensor-based products
- Smart building systems
- Data collection and reporting from connected devices
